Who Are We?
Founded in 1990, NJTAP has gained visibility and credibility with industry as an extension
service that:
- provides environmental opportunity assessments;
- functions as a clearinghouse for information related to pollution prevention;
- delivers education and training; and
- aids in the development and adoption of new pollution prevention technologies.
In the nine years since its inception, NJTAP scientists and engineers have made more than
four hundred site visits to manufacturing facilities. NJTAP identifies
pollution prevention opportunities at New Jersey companies. In addition, a technical library
of greater than one thousand articles and reports in approximately seventy sub-categories
of pollution prevention has been developed to aid in the answering of enviromnmental questions.
Alliances have been formed with sewerage authorities such as the Bergen County
Utilities Authority and the Linden-Roselle Sewerage Authority for the development of
curricula to train publicly owned treatment works personnel in pollution prevention
techniques. In addition, NJTAP personnel together with industrial pretreatment coordinators
have educated businesses about pollution prevention and its relationship to industrial
pretreatment.
